Sorrow

Found object (ghost net); 1592 glass teardrops beads, 300m string, paint;

dimensions variable, 2017

Invisible in the dim light, hundreds of kilometres of ghost nets are lost or left every year in our oceans. Drifting in the open sea, these unattended nets entangle and devastate our endangered marine life. ‘Ethereally’ poignant, Sorrow exposes the issue and extends Marynes Avila’s research on the complexities of multiplicity by incorporating 1592 glass teardrop beads.

destroying sea life.'
