Ancient

250 Branches-twigs collected on site and wrapped individually with red fabric; dimensions variable

Pulsating in the landscape, amongst pine trees and native flora, 'Ancient' depicts the concept of shelter/ home/family as protection from the hardships of the outer world.

Utilizing gravity as her only ally, the artist created these totemic structures by simply laying the tee-tree branches on each other. This support system or connection with each other provided the strategy to survive the strongest winds in Melbourne throughout the winter of 2008.

The work also refers to sustainable architecture and the protection of nature.
